Floating Modern Staircase

Butler Floating Staircase

Winter 2008

This ultra-modern staircase, designed by PATH Architecture, floats on a series of 1/4″ rods – some of which are nearly 20 feet long. The solid oak treads hang off the wall on brackets buried in the wall. When you walk on the stairs they give just a bit, leaving the rods gently shimmering behind you, harp-like.

I was one of many subcontractors working on this project for Dave Rush Construction.

Other projects included an ipe T & G floor and a wall of T & G cedar concealing a bathroom door in the training room.
